COACHES

“Speaking as Jimmy’s coach, I could not be happier with the results he was able to achieve as a result of participating at your camp. Jimmy returned home a different player. He has developed amazing strength and self confidence.”

“Megan attended the J Robinson camp in Minnesota. At this camp, she was pushed to exhaustion daily, and her skills improved greatly. While many other girls her age were at home sleeping their summers away, Megan was at this camp working hard to improve something she is extremely passionate about.”

ATHLETES

“I remember my final satisfying year of basketball was in C-Squad. i felt like a part of the team; not starting every game but I knew the coach was on my side. In the following years, I did not get much playing time even though I came to every practice, did every drill to the best of my ability and did the extras that I thought would get me in the game. What ticked me off was that no one else was putting the extra effort and they did start and were on the coach’s good side.

So why do I keep coming back year after year with a new hope of being a starter or go-to player on my team? My passion for basketball and thinking of that quote we saw on our ceiling every morning when we woke up for 6:30am workouts at J Robinson Camps paraphrased for myself stuck in my mind: “If you don’t do it, someone else will.” If I don’t put in an extra 30 minutes of shooting, someone else will be better than me. If I don’t run to today (which I hated before I came to camp), someone will be 3 miles more in shape than me.

Even my freshman year of college of college was difficult. I fell into the “freshman syndrome,” got into a slump and sat a lot of games. Yet, I still worked hard in practice and was first to finish most drills knowing that I had to be in shape when I did get into a game, even though I was frustrated that I did not have my coaches confidence. My season began to turn around as I relaxed and I was able to help my team earn a strong win in the MCCC state tournament and eventually become consolation champions. Even though I didn’t have the most points, I never gave up and played the way I practiced which I was able to carry over to the offseason. I trained and practiced my game more than I ever had before. I can already see a difference in myself and now that I am a sophomore and a leader of my team at a Worthington MN C&T College, I want to demonstrate my hardworking attitude to incoming freshmen so we can perform even better this year and take home a championship, which we can do if we work hard no matter how much pain we are in after the first week of practice. “No Pain, No Gain” is what I always say.

I have Jesus Christ and my parents for being positive role models in my life in developing a positive attitude no matter what is going wrong and believe me, the tears were coming after some of the disappointments in my playing career, but I knew that tomorrow would be a new day and that I just have to keep my focus on God through those trials I’ve had and I’ll be a better person on the other end.”

“I had an amazing experience at your 2 week camp this year. You guys are really something. I love to challenge myself and I came to the camp thinking that 2 weeks wont do me any good. Well, it was one hell of an experience, everyday seemed like a week. I highly benefited from your camp, as I have been drafted for my country National Team, and I became very strong and efficient after camp. I am telling everyone about you, here in Jordan. I am challenging them last one day at your camp! Thank you so much for the challenge, hard work, and intense training.”

PARENTS

“My son recently completed the 2-week Intensive Camp at Chowan in North Carolina where he was awarded the Black Hat. I just want to tell you what an incredible difference I see in my son. He has always been an outstanding young man with a tremendous work ethic, but those traits have been amplified from the time he spent at JRob. His focus has been sharpened and his drive intensified.”

“My son Michael will once again attend this year as last year camp had the greatest impact on him as an individual and basketball player…Thanks”

“I just wanted to let you know how much my daughter learned and gained at your camp this past summer. She pushed herself
harder than she ever thought possible. She called home crying about every other day, she had blisters all over her feet and when we took her to her HS team camp at Siena College over the middle weekend, the trainer there spent an hour a day on her feet trying to dry them up. He said her shoes were too small. So we took her out to get new sneakers. While there she had a melt down and my husband said to her that they could just go back to the dorm and get her stuff and go home. She stopped crying and looked up at him and said “Are YOU crazy?! I hate it, it hurts, but there is no way I am quitting!”

When we arrived to drop Eliza off at camp we knew there was a 12 mile run at the end. She did not. A few days into the camp she called us and was laughing. They think we are going to run 12 miles! Yeah right! was her comment. Sarah and I will walk it, she said. At the end of the 2 weeks – she ran it and she made it. She graduated. She was so proud of herself. We were very proud of her also.

She went to her HS team camp after J Robinson and she won a spot on the varsity then and there. No one, no matter how big and strong was keeping her from that basket. She is only 5’8″ 120 lbs., but she plays D like an animal and knows there has to be more than blisters and hurt muscles to keep her from getting what she wants.

She is now on the HS Varsity team as a starter.”

“I just wanted to write and say thank-you. I believe Adam is truly a changed person because of your camp. He has a confidence and maturity about him that his mom and I have witnessed since bringing him home from camp. We have heard him repeatedly say ” Discipline, is doing what you don’t want to do when you don’t want to do it” along with other positive quotes and phrases. We have learned about the Rambo run, Red Flag day and other workouts, You really have it going on. His counselors, coaches and trainers have touched his life in a true and meaningful way and I know your camp training and intensity will be an experience that he will never forget. We talk a lot about his 12 mile marathon run!! wow ! Please pass along a special thanks to all the coaches. Thanks Again!! ”

“My son Zachary attended your camp this past summer. Until his basketball season begins at the end of this month I don’t know what he gained on the court. What I do know is what he gained off of the court! I sent my little boy to you and he came back a man! I am so impressed with my son, and so proud. Zach awakes to his alarm every morning, and actually gets up! (unheard of before camp). He takes responsibility for himself and his belongings, keeps his room fairly clean. He is so responsible for his schoolwork- no excuses- he does what he needs to do and does it well- high honor roll first quarter in high school. (Also unheard of before camp!) He knows that after completing J Robinson camp he can do anything. I am so thankful that we sent Zachary to you- he is so prepared to succeed in life! Thank you!”

“I will recommend your camp to anyone that asks if I know of a good camp for their son, or daughter. Just getting through the camp has awakened him to what is possible, if he works hard enough. I’m glad to see that in this day and age, you are willing to go the extra mile, and push a kid to reach their full potential, it seems to be a rare trait anymore, and I think you have shown these campers that there really is no limit, if they use their mind to overcome any weakness. My son gained alot of self confidence by attending, and I am comfortable saying that I will probably be sending him back again, Thank You to all your staff, A JOB WELL DONE!”

“My son recently completed the 2 week intensive camp at Chowan in NC where he was awarded the Black Hat. I just want to tell you what an incredible difference I see in my son. He has always been an outstanding young man with a tremendous work ethic, but those traits have been ampliflied from the the time he spent at jRob. His focus has been sharpened and his drive intensified. As an overprotective mother, I was terrified that he would return from 14 days of intensive workouts skinny and exhausted; on the contrary! He actually GAINED 5 pounds and has been energized by the experience! He has maintained his running and jumped into a 5 mile race on the Fourth of July and won easily. Kudos to your organization and the outstanding staff. When we arrived to pick Dylan up, Coach V took the time to track us down to compliment us on the quality young man our son is and to tell us he had confidence that Dylan could pay college ball. (An advanced class, 4.0 student, Dylan hopes to attend U of Penn.) We were so thrilled! Dylan’s coach watched him play last night in a city league and commented on the marked improvement. He then proceeded to tell us that a college scout who was there was asking around about him! WOW! We are so proud of Dylan – who wants to come back next year and bring several team mates with him. Thanks again and keep up the great work!”
